Manager, Corporate Food Safety and Quality Assurance - Regina, SK

AGT Food and Ingredients Inc. is looking for a Manager, Corporate Food Safety and Quality Assurance to join our global head office team in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Main Functions

  • Provides direction and ensures implementation of quality and food safety management systems across AGT facilities
  • Drives initiatives for compliance and Continuous Process Improvement of quality and food safety programs 
  • Keeps up on changes of applicable industry issues and regional/global food safety regulations & trends
  • Verifies quality and food safety management systems activities are implemented across AGT’s global facilities

 

Competency Requirements

  • Expertise on quality and food safety management systems standards (FSSC 22000, ISO 9001, Gluten-Free, FSMA) and product-identity standards (Kosher, HALAL, Organic, Non-GMO)
  • Capable of writing and implementing Corporate Policies
  • Capable of developing Risk Analysis and mitigation strategies
  • Capable of Developing and executing plans including holding others accountable
  • In-depth understanding of applicable regulatory requirements (i.e. FDA, CFIA)
  • Minimum 5-year experience in supervisory or managerial role in food industry 
  • Supervisory experience of Hazard Risk Analysis and SWOT Analysis 
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills 
  • Capable of presenting a professional image of AGT Foods to Customers, Auditors and Visitors
  • Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Understands and can teach principles of Continual Process Improvement
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Science, Food Science, Agriculture, or related science program 

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensures effective implementation of quality and food safety management system (QFSMS) programs across AGT facilities
  • Provides guidance on facilitating investigations, corrective actions, and internal auditing
  • Ensures Management Reviews are conducted as per defined frequency; prepares agenda, presentation and minutes of Management Review
  • Networks with industry partners, regulatory bodies, and customers to identify trends and threats relating to product quality and safety 
  • Chairs Corporate Food Safety Team, supports facility/regional Food Safety Managers, Regularly communicates with Facility Managers, Division/Regional/Group Operations Managers, Research and Development Director, and Director of Operations to understand facility issues affecting quality and food safety, identify action items applicable to the facility to comply with QFS requirements
  • Ensures document lifecycle is maintained across AGT facilities; reviews and approves Corporate Food Safety documents 
  • Provides structure and guidance on execution of QFS programs suitable to AGT facilities 
  • Ensures HACCP Plans are validated and verified in applicable AGT facilities 
  • Leads Corporate FS audit team to conduct facility audits and inspections as per defined frequency and as needed
  • Acts as audit guide during third party audits, as necessary;  ensures each facility has a competent audit guide  
  • Monitors and tracks QFS performance (KPI’s) of AGT facilities 
  • Collects and reports KPI’s across all facilities
  • Uses KPI’s to establish benchmarks to facilities
  • Shares best practices between facilities
  • Drives programs for improvement of compliance with QFSMS 
  • Trains and motivates Food Safety Team to effectively execute tasks assigned to Food Safety 
  • Ensures that facilities are achieving Continual Process Improvement

 

Key Initial Deliverables

  • Within first 3 months:  Identifies strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of QFSMS  
  • Creates collaborative team ethic amongst QFSMS colleagues
  • Visit all North American facilities and report the state of the FS and QA at each facility
  • Within first 6 months:  Standardizes food safety reporting, bench marking, and documentation across operations
  • Develop a plan to implement a Basic HACCP program at all Non-FSSC22000 facilities
  • Within first 12 months:  Ensures resources are determined and allocated for implementation of QFSMS
  • Develop a plan and budget for the following calendar year

  • Tracks and monitors completion of action items arising from internal deviations (CARs), customer complaints (CSCARs), internal and external audits (CAPA), and other action items; and verifies effectiveness of implementation   
  • Chairs Facility Food Safety Team and ensures continuous training is provided to Facility Food Safety Team members 
  • Regularly communicates with Facility Manager, Operations Manager, Research and Development Director, and Director of Operations to gather inputs on issues affecting quality and food safety, and identify action items applicable to the facility to comply with QFS requirements

AGT Foods, a division of Alliance Pulse Processors Inc., is looking for a Full Time Super B Truck Driver to join our team.

Main Function

  • Responsible for the operation of AGT Foods tractor trailer power unit(s) and handling various chassis/intermodal/equipment loaded or empty in tractor trailer trucking service
  • Operation of various heavy equipment required for yard maintenance and container handling
  • Provide truck and chassis maintenance to the extent possible
  • Assists the Truck Driver Coordinator in the operation and equipment supply at AGT Foods compounds

Description of Work Performed

  • Truck driver will work closely with the various rail inter modal ramps and equipment providers
  • Develops and implements good coordination and professional working relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Operates the equipment to load and off load containers
  • Provides container chassis maintenance
  • Maintain daily work and log book records
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalence or suitable work related experience
  • Must have class 1 license with air brake endorsement
  • Must provide current drivers abstract
  • Must be able to pass drug testing
  • Must have the ability to work quickly, accurately, and independently

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, confident individual with a deep knowledge of the Ag industry in Western Canada.

This person will assist the buying group in the day-to-day planning and coordination of special crop purchasing and deliveries.

Depending on qualifications and experience, the following items may be the Grain Buyer’s key or shared areas of focus:

  • Inbound and outbound calling to producers (cold calling is required)
  • Issuing grain purchase contracts
  • Administration of contract compliance (signatures) and filing
  • Administration of appropriate and accurate documentation
  • Prospecting and gathering grower information on seeded acres and on farm inventory
